2017 National Tasting Project wines from the Kobrand Fine Wine and Spirits:

"Organic, Sustainable & Biodynamic Wines"

About The National Tasting Project

The National Tasting Project is an educational wine tasting opportunity for AWS chapter members across the United States.  Each year the NTP committee chooses a theme and selects several wines that show different styles within a theme.  Chapters hold tastings to sample the wines and then see how their ratings compare to other AWS chapters.

With Global Warming in our midst, or not (depending on what camp you’re in), the NTP committee felt inspired to honor those wineries who do what they can to protect our planet.  Do you know what it takes to make a winery Green certified?   How about “fish friendly” farming?  Or Global GAP?   A custom designed PowerPoint will guide our members through the differences between these types of farming and more in a fun and informative way.  And for the first time, we also plan to offer a video introduction for your tastings.

The tasting committee has narrowed the selection down to 12 wines.  Your chapters are welcome and encouraged to conduct your chapter tastings with as few as 6 of these wines, or all 12 should you feel so inclined!

Marketview Liquor, our online shipping source out of Rochester New York, has agreed to stock all 12 wines, and will have a tab on their home page “AWS NTP” to simplify ordering the wines.  They are giving us the best price available, and with no tax, helps ease the shipping costs. These wines will be allocated to our members for a limited time, and will be available to order beginning January 1, and will remain available through March 31, 2017.

This gives you Three months to determine who will be conducting the tasting project, and time to get their orders in before the deadline.  After the deadline passes, the wines go on sale to the general public and we cannot guarantee you will be able to get all of the wines for your tastings.

In January we will also be sending out a retail order guide for the states Marketview doesn’t ship, so those chapters can obtain the wines.  This email goes out to the chapter chairs to forward to the individual in their chapter conducting the tasting.  This email will include the PowerPoint, video link and Reporting Forms.  Please keep in mind we design the PowerPoint and all announcements about this project allowing the wines to be tasted blind, as an additional learning opportunity for our members.  Please maintain the integrity of this aspect of the tasting.

Our sponsors graciously and enthusiastically support our efforts, believe in our society and work together with us to help grow our organization.  This is exactly the type of sponsorship we need, so it’s important for all of us to support this project!  With the ease of ordering and affordable prices, there’s no excuse for all of our chapters to not participate.
